It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

It's been so much fun to have traditions that we do with the family for the holidays. As I get older and life gets busier I often briefly consider cutting some of our regular festivities like the hassle of a real Christmas tree, sending out paper Christmas cards, and hosting events. But the girls have come to expect these traditions and balk at the mention of cutting back or lessening what we've always done, they are also getting older and can help so much more. Once I quit complaining in my head and actually just do it, it IS fun and things I'm glad we've kinda taught them that is what Christmas is for us.

Gingerbread House time

Each decorated their side of the roof their own way. N is all about patterns.

Valla used gum drops to make nice scallops. See the spots where some have been removed? When we weren't looking, Little LG snuck up and ate them!

The finished product, now kept high on a shelf from little hands.L had a stuffy nose and I had to use the nasal aspirator to unstuff her. Later, she helped out the angel by unstuffing her nose.

V's year to put the star on top.

The 2009 Tree

N was in the Sanford Christmas Parade! She rode on a float with other members from the dance studio. Here we all are waiting for her.

She was less than thrilled... (bottom left corner)

At least when we all screamed her name, she cracked a smile!

Here's N watching a personalized message from Santa. She was very impressed.

Time for Bug Eyes as Will called them. We call them Buckeyes, peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate :)

Time to dip.

Valla found a new favorite reading spot.

  • "I bet it's great to work at Publix... you get to bake yummy things for people and eat them too!"
Mom, "Val how are you already on page 90 of your book this morning, last night you were on page 35?" Valla, "After you put me to bed, I opened my blinds and used the light from the outside Christmas lights to see my book and read for a while."
