A few months back we and our good friends decided it'd be a lot of fun to do a family camping trip. Knowing time would pass us by and the heat of summer would soon curtail any camping plans that include me (No Sweat Jeni), we pulled out our phones, checked our calendars and picked a free Saturday in April. A few days later when I went to make the reservations online that weekend was full, no problem I thought, we'll just go the following weekend which had plenty of open sites. Yeah, know why?.... BECAUSE THE NEXT WEEKEND WAS EASTER! We didn't realize this as we paid our camping fee.
As it turns out with most experiences, what it is ... is what it is. Meaning sometimes Easter morning is waking from your bed to find eggs & hidden baskets in your living room and enjoying a big breakfast in your kitchen... and sometimes Easter morning is unzipping the tent to find eggs around a campsite with your friends & hidden baskets in your car and a breakfast of fruit and granola bars. :) Both are pretty awesome and definitly memorable!
We set up camp Sat afternoon then headed to the refreshing 72 degree spring where we not only forgot the water shoes (which our tender feet would have appreciated) but the water proof camera. So no photos, use your imagination :)
Back at camp it was craft time. Each made their own sign using things found around the campsite.
Valla and Emily
(Here are Emily and Valla in Jan 2003, grown much?!)
Messy face, pretty much a campsite requirement...check!
Valla's sign reads "Valla Welcome"
Dinner!
There's also a burn ban in effect, thank goodness Wendy and Travis had their gas grill.
Not quite the same s'more experience but we'll take it!
All the kids participating in "add a line to the story." It was something about the Easter Bunny blowing up, going to the hospital and a kitty delivering baskets.
Rhonda, Todd, Jason and all the kids, Easter Morning 2011!
Looking for baskets, those mini vans sure are multi functional aren't they?!
Our sleeping campsite, next to our social side campsite.
LG found hers
Natalie's thrilled to get a Webkin
Valla loves her puppy.
Ready to find eggs!
LG called this particular candy, "penguins" they do llok more like penguins than chicks!
Getting ready for the obligatory group shot. Poor Nat's belly decided to mark yet another holiday (we won't soon forget Valentine's of 2011) by throwing up. She couldn't muster up the desire to face the camera.
